Meet the space designers
3B design is a collaborative studio formed by Made In Place Ltd (UK) and Bureau BB (NL), combining international architectural expertise with hands-on, concept-driven design in retail, hospitality and branded environments.
Led by Concept Directors Ken Wingate and Berna Bakker, the studio brings together experience, clarity and creativity to deliver high-performing spaces.
Ken Wingate
Ken Wingate, architect and founder of Made In Place Ltd, has delivered over 2000 commercial projects worldwide. His portfolio includes British Airways, Reuters, ESSO, Transport for London, Sainsbury's, Paperchase and The Brompton Bicycle Company, as well as recent landmark projects such as Gail's Bakery at London rail stations. Over the past two years, Ken and Berna have collaborated on projects in Aruba and recently completed Bakker Bart and Gail's.
Berna Bakker
Berna Bakker, founder of Bureau BB, brings over 25 years of experience in retail and hospitality. Her work includes brands such as AH to go, Brompton, Rituals, Sissy Boy, Desigual, Gail's, Paperchase, HEMA, I am and Hunkemöller. Known for her pragmatic, hands-on approach, she connects concept to execution with a clear focus on results, while integrating reuse and sustainable thinking.
3B design operates with a core team, supported by a flexible network of specialists, allowing each project to be tailored with the right expertise.
Based between the UK and the Netherlands, 3B design works internationally, creating distinctive, thoughtful and enduring design solutions.
